Useful new iPhone battery case still allows Lightning port access

There's nothing concrete from Apple's end, but we don't expect much considering how the company likes to keep a low-key even until the day of the official launch, which will take place in September this year.

The very first render of what might be one of Apple's 2019 iPhones has surfaced online.

We're not sure what's the objective of the third camera, but earlier reports have suggested that Apple might introduce 3D cameras in 2019. Instead, the company promises "the Mophie Juice Pack Access for the iPhone XS/X provides up to 25 hours of total talk time, while the Juice Pack Access for the iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR provides up to 31 hours of total talk time".

The renders show a square camera setup housing three cameras: the first and second are aligned vertically, while in the middle, to the right, is a third.

As Onleaks says that these images are based on EVT hardware, which means "engineering validation test", something that is still under test. Above that is an LED flash and a microphone on the bottom, ' the site reported.

As it did in 2018, Apple later this year is expected to introduce three new iPhone models, with all essentially being revamps of the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. This could be similar to the 3D ToF camera that's found on the Oppo R17 Pro and Honor View 20.

It is thought that the odd alignment might have something to do with apple adopting a 3D camera sensor for its next phone. Digit speculates that the third lens will be for a 3D time-of-flight camera, the sort of thing that could give you 3D scans of objects. The effect this will have on the 2019 iPhones remains to be seen. Yay or Nay? For more iPhone news and beyond, make sure you add on your RSS feeds!

Of course, these render images are not official, and as usual Apple hasn't commented on them.
