Alien Isolation Sequel Announced For Phones

The Alien movie franchise remains one of the most popular sci-fi series ever made, and it has spawned tons of great spin-offs in novels, comic books and games.

Before the Game Awards, rumours were swirling about a new game called Alien: Blackout. That being said, we could all be proven wrong and this will be a game that will not only surprise us but may very well set a new precedent for how mobile gaming experiences should be tackled. There were a few good ones.

Amanda was also the central character in the critically acclaimed survival horror game Alien: Isolation, which was released in 2014 for PCs and consoles by Sega.

"Blackout" game with Amanda Ripley coming THIS MONTH for PS4, Xbox One?

You'll play as Amanda Ripley onboard a space station that's been invaded by a Xenomorph. Players will be forced to make life or death decisions that could permanently alter the ultimate outcome of the game. According to the game's official website, players will strategically protect crewmembers from a hungry (or just angry) xenomorph "using only the space station's limited power supply to operate a holographic map, surveillance cameras, and motion tracker". You can check out the trailer for the game below!

But what do we know about this rumoured new game so far? Isolation, you'll need to "outsmart the flawless hunter by making perilous choices", shepherding the surviving crew to safety. Plus, Fox plans to tell more of Amanda Ripley's story across multiple mediums throughout 2019.

FoxNext Games' studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also now at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles and PC.

It also seems somewhat apparent, based on the gameplay description, that Alien: Blackout will be liberally borrowing from the successful gameplay formula of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. Players will need to survive increasingly challenging, fear-inducing levels by balancing the controls of the space station's emergency systems to skillfully guide their crew to safety and avoid encounters with the enemy.
