Steelers' Antonio Brown problem worsens while Bengals finally start over

According to a report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Antonio Brown's absence from Sunday night's game against the Bengals wasn't due to a knee injury as previously reported.

Tomlin says he decided not to play Brown in Sunday's must-win season finale against the Bengals because the two had a "lack of communication" in the days leading up to the game.

However, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the player Brown allegedly had a run-in with before a practice last week, had only good things to say about him Tuesday. Antonio Brown has generated some drama by hinting that he wants out of Pittsburgh, and there are rumbles that Brown and Ben Roethlisberger are having some relationship issues.

NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reported Monday that Brown was not present during Monday's team meeting, and there was frustration in the locker room over Tomlin not addressing the situation. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Brown had his knee tested after he "didn't feel comfortable enough to [practice]".

If the Steelers were to trade Brown, they would obviously ask for a lot of assets in return.

Tomlin said he has not received a formal trade request from Brown, according to Kinkhabwala.

Brown has now reportedly requested the Steelers trade him, and some observers believe that's a possible outcome, despite a sizable salary cap hit.

Tomlin did not deny that there comes a point when a player could be more of a distraction than he's worth. Landry is one of the league's best receivers, but he does not have the speed that allows him to create enough separation from a secondary focused on him.

"I'm blessed to play with him".

Multiple sources told Kinkhabwala, however, that Roethlisberger and Brown had "a little bit of a disagreement" during last Wednesday's walkthrough. "I know guys that are frustrated".

"People are making a big deal about a walk-through", Roethlisberger said. You can watch Tomlin's entire press conference here.
