Google, a leading American tech giant has been working on the spam protection feature for Android users on the Messages Application for quite some time now.

The good news here is that personal information such as phone number and content of their message will be stripped off and not included in the information sent to Google. The spammer won't see or know about your report. Google notes that data collected from users is aimed at improving future spam detection.

The popup notification users receive when the so-called Spam Protection function hits the devices asks the users to either enable it or keep it off.

This is a feature we learned about earlier in the year, and it is now starting to roll out to handsets. Reports from a handful of tipsters suggested that, that spam protection feature is now going live, though not all and sundry seems to have it just so far, the Android Police stated late on Friday.
