"San Jose Police has also received several bomb threats similar to what other cities are experiencing", the department's media relations officer said in an email.

A Dryden, Ont. business was among thousands around the world to receive a bomb threat on Thursday. MSP Fusion, a business based in Boston, also received the threat, according to WCVB.

The suspicious emails claim an explosive device has been planted in the recipient's office and will be set off unless a ransom is paid in the currency bitcoin. Sgt. Seth Tyler said the Chandler Police Department's Criminal Investigations Bureau is continuing to investigate, but the business is now open and operating as normal.

The businesses that reported the threats are located on: Enterprise Drive, Unicorn Drive, Gay Street, Clinton Highway, Sixth Avenue, Mynatt Avenue and Gleason Drive.

"At this time, it appears that these threats are meant to cause disruption and/or obtain money".

WNDU, a Gray affiliate station in IN, was targeted, as was WBKO in Kentucky.

There were other threats today not related to the hoax, it seems.

Just before 2 pm on Thursday, Calgary Police Services released a statement a Facebook post explaining that a number of bomb threats had been made via email.

"Please be advised - there is an email being circulated containing a bomb threat asking for bitcoin payment".

We are now monitoring multiple bomb threats that have been sent electronically to various locations throughout the city.

The State Police Tweeted there were multiple bomb threats within the Commonwealth and across the nation.

In the latter city, computers in a private home and at Tri-City Medical Center received the threatening emails, Oceanside police Lt. Kedrick Sadler said.

In many instances, people have been reporting that they're being told to transfer thousands of dollars worth of Bitcoin to a specific address. We are working with our Federal, State and Local partners to determine the credibility of these threats. This is an issue being reported in other cities nationwide and is not considered credible at this time.

Lincoln County, Missouri, sheriff's spokesperson Lieutenant Andy Binder said authorities bused the students from a middle school receiving one of the threats to another campus as a precaution, but the school was later determined to be safe and classes will resume there on Friday.
