Elon Musk Says He Doesn't Respect SEC, Tweets Fall Under 'First Amendment'

Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk appeared in a 60 Minutes interview this weekend covering a wide range of topics including recent labor complaints at Tesla and his replacement for chairman of the board.

Mr Musk agreed to a settlement that would allow Tesla oversight of his posts on Twitter, specifically of messages that could lead to share price moves.

"I want to be clear", he says.

But Musk said "it's not realistic" to expect Denholm to watch over his actions because he remains the electric vehicle company's largest shareholder.

The "60 Minutes" interview, which was filmed at Tesla's lone auto plant in Fremont, California, largely focused on Tesla's year in which it raced to ramp up production of the Model 3 sedan. The part that requires pre-approval of communications that could affect the stock price technically must be in place by December 28, the company said. "And I can just call for a shareholder vote and get anything done I want".

After tweeting, "Am considering taking Tesla private at $420". Musk on pot:I do not smoke pot, as anyone who watched that podcast could tell, I have no idea how to smoke pot.

"Musk's tweets caused market chaos and harmed Tesla investors", prosecutors said.

The company also fulfilled a pledge to make money during the third quarter, and Musk has said he expects the company to remain profitable. There's no option.Musk on the charges of abusive conditions at Tesla factories:Well, it's important to emphasize that there's been an aggressive campaign by the UAW to absolutely attack Tesla with a load of nonsense in-in order to try to unionize the company. I'm just being me.

"I am the largest shareholder of the company", Musk proclaimed.

As Tesla pointed out, the settlement does not require oversight of Musk's Twitter feed until nearly the end of the year, so technically Musk has not broken the agreement.

"I actually prefer to have no titles at all", Musk said. He replaces Todd Maron, Musk's former divorce lawyer, who has headed up Tesla's legal department since 2013.

But GM's downsize could be a windfall for Tesla, with the CEO saying the carmaker might consider buying at least one plant if the opportunity came up.

Musk said the long-awaited $35,000 version of the Model 3 will "probably" be available in five to six months.
