Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg to Co-Host 2019 Golden Globe Awards

While the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is known for its quirkier selections and categorizations, few saw the resounding success of Vice coming. "The Americans" scored farewell nods for best drama series and actor and actress Matthew Rhys (who won the Emmy) and Keri Russell.

Its most prestigious and highest rated drama, "This Is Us", was shut out of the 2019 Golden Globe nominations. Rhode Island native and onetime MA resident Peter Farrelly garnered a Best Director nomination, as well as a Best Screenplay nod, which he shared with co-writers Nick Vallelonga and Peabody native Brian Currie.

Charlize Theron and Robert Redford both scored lead acting nominations for films that seemed to have slipped off the awards radar: Theron, as a stressed-out mother in "Tully", and Redford, as a gentleman bank robber in "The Old Man and the Gun". She will also be the first Canadian to host the Globes. While Oh does not appear to have any past award show hosting credits, Samberg has hosted both the Independent Spirit Awards and the Emmys. The Globes are famous for honoring upcoming talent, so it will be exciting to see what happens on the big night in January.

Drama: Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, If Beale Street Could Talk, A Star Is Born. The news comes just a little over a month before the actual award show.
