Theresa May urges MPs to back Brexit deal

The U.S. president seemed to suggest the current deal could potentially leave Britain unable to negotiate a free-trade agreement with the world's largest economy post-Brexit.

After the EU's green light on the Brexit deal signed by British Prime Minister Theresa May, the same agreement will have to be put to the vote by Westminister, presumably between the 10 and 11 of December.

"My deal delivers for every corner of the United Kingdom and I will work hard to strengthen the bonds that unite us", she said.

However, Mrs May did receive some support when Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe welcomed the fact she had reached a deal with Brussels in a telephone call between the two leaders.

"We don't want to give the wrong impression to people whether they are passionate Remainers or passionate Brexiteers that there is another deal could command the support of 28 members states, there is not".

Speaking at the SMMT's annual dinner, chief executive Mike Hawes said that Brexit "remained the biggest challenge for all of us", and was already harming investment in "technology, people and our future".

"After we leave the European Union in March next year, we will take up our independent seat at the (World Trade Organisation) where we will play an active role in negotiations and be strong advocates for the rules-based global trading system", the blog said.

The DUP leader already said on a few occasions that her party will object the withdrawal agreement and the political declaration signed with the European Union, despite a "confidence and supply" pact with leading Conservative Party.

Trump said "right now, if you look at the deal, they may not be able to trade with us, and that wouldn't be a good thing".

"Having been told by the European Union that we would need to split the UK in two, we are leaving as one United Kingdom", May said in a statement announcing the visit and defending the border arrangements agreed with the EU.

I can't speak for Jeremy Corbyn, but I'd be up for a full leaders" debate on the "deal'.

On Monday the prime minister announced that the contentious divorce terms would go to parliament on 11 December for a decisive vote many expect her to lose.

Labour MP Keir Starmer, the shadow Brexit secretary, said May had "run down the clock" with her Brexit talks, meaning that to renegotiate a better permanent deal would probably require article 50 to be extended beyond March next year.

She added: "As regards to the United States, we have already been talking to them about the sort of agreement that we could have in the future".

"Because no-one knows what would happen if this deal doesn't pass".

A Labour spokesman said: "Jeremy would relish a head-to-head debate with Theresa May about her botched Brexit deal and the future of our country".

"If the deal is voted down in the House of Commons, it will lead to more division and more uncertainty".

The BoE said today it would publish its assessment of the monetary and financial stability implications of the withdrawal agreement along with other possible Brexit scenarios, at 1630 GMT tomorrow.

British Prime Minister Theresa May (L) leaves 10 Downing Street following a cabinet meeting in London, Britain, on November 26, 2018.

The trip to Scotland is the latest stop in a two-week tour by Mrs May as she tries to promote and sell her deal to the public and business.

But Downing Street sources said they were not aware of the Prime Minister seeking to speak to Labour MPs thought to be considering backing her deal.
