Saints' Dez Bryant not to expected to make debut Sunday vs. Bengals

It would have been terrific to see him team up with Dez Bryant in 2018, but they may have to wait to realize that potential.

Dez Bryant joined the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, taking the No. 88 and a roster spot vacated by wide receiver Cam Meredith. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Bryant gave Kamara and Thomas the label of "baby GOATs" while calling quarterback Drew Brees the 'big GOAT'.

Bryant was originally planning to make his Saints debut in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it's up in the air whether he will play at all this season.

The Saints officially listed Bryant as limited in Friday's practice with an ankle injury.

"Whatever he has for me, I'm getting myself ready for it", said Bryant, who hadn't been with a team since the Dallas Cowboys released him in April.

Thomas is also coming off being named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week for his sky-high play against the Rams, with plenty of action ahead of him.

Receiver Ted Ginn Jr. also is on injured reserve and can not come back until the final few weeks of the regular season, if he's ready by then. The last time the two teams met, the Bengals won 27-10 at New Orleans in 2014.

"He kept having the swelling week in and week out and he really was pushing through it", Payton said. "You can ask my teammates - my ex-teammates - how I am", Bryant said. I'm not a bad guy.

"It was good", Bryant said of his first practice. "I love the locker room".

But Payton added, "we felt like he did a number of things that we liked in the workout".
