Six hurt in Fly Jamaica's emergency crash-landing in Guyana

A Toronto-bound Fly Jamaica airplane is seen after crash-landing at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Georgetown, Guyana on November 9, 2018.

Bedessee, who was returning home with a friend after a week's golfing vacation, said trouble began on the flight well before takeoff when crew members and technicians spent 40 minutes struggling to close a door.

There were 118 adults and two infants aboard as well as eight crew members made up of six Guyanese and two Jamaicans.

Just 11 minutes later, the pilot indicated a hydraulic problem and requested permission to return to the airport.

Six of the 128 people aboard the plane, including crewmembers, were injured in the crash, the minister of public infrastructure, David Patterson, said as cited by local media.
