What to expect from Kevin Anderson at ATP Finals

He lost his No. 1 ranking to Novak Djokovic on Monday.

Rafael Nadal has withdrawn his entry for the ATP Finals just hours before the draw having decided today that he is again not fit to play at the season-ending championships.

Novak Djokovic will face Alexander Zverev and Marin Cilic in the round-robin stage at the ATP Finals, while Roger Federer will get the chance to exact revenge on Kevin Anderson in London.

Nadal in 2018 at the level of the ATP tour he played 40 matches and scored 36 victories.

"I have done everything possible to reach the end of the season in good condition, both in Paris and London, and I really wanted to play", Nadal added.

The ATP Finals take place in London on November 11-18, with Group Hewitt matches kicking off the action on Sunday.

Djokovic's 22-match unbeaten run was ended by Karen Khachanov in the Paris Masters final on Sunday after beating Federer in a classic last-four encounter.

Meanwhile, reaching the final in London would rank alongside Anderson's US Open and Wimbledon final defeats against Nadal and Djokovic respectively as the most auspicious achievements of his career.

This way I hope to be in top conditions for next season.

The 32-year-old Spaniard ends 2018 with a 45-4 record and five titles, including an 11th French Open championship in June.

"Unfortunately, I had abdominal problem in Paris last week and also required an operation on an ankle injury". Nadal hasn't competed since he retired from his U.S. Open semifinal because of a painful right knee.
