#ElectionNight: Beyoncé lends star power to Texas Democrat O'Rourke

Triumph asks someone in the crowd at a Cruz rally.

And as of this writing, O'Rourke trailed Cruz by only 3.1 points - significantly less the Real Clear Politics' most recent polling average margin of 6.8 points. Ted Cruz, said he doesn't understand why anyone would be angry with asylum seekers "doing what any human being would do".

People have compared Cruz to the Zodiac killer, which Triumph called unfair, "since his plan to end Obamacare would kill way more people - I mean way, way, way, way more people!" He and President Trump routinely sparred, and Cruz famously did not endorse the president during his nominating convention. Without giving them all away, here are the seven sickest burns Triumph lands on Ted Cruz.

After interviewing some voters, Triumph found Beto, asking if it concerns him if half his base thinks they can vote for him through Instagram, and if he's anxious about Texas voting machines.

"What do you have that Ted Cruz doesn't have?"

Cruz, who was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, has been a prominent, if not contentious, figure in the Republican Party. That mind is none other than Triumph the Insult Comic Dog (and the man behind him, SNL vet Robert Smigel). "The Trump administration, and by extension the (Texas Gov. Greg) Abbott administration, have done quite enough to intimidate voters without staging military rehearsals on Election Day". O'Rourke supported various progressive initiatives, including the implementation of universal health care and looser immigration laws. "I'm not 'overwhelming scientific evidence of global warming'". So with Conan on hiatus this week, Stephen Colbert "borrowed" Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to send down to the lone star state to gauge the vibes at Beto and Cruz rallies.

"Ted, is it true that you will defend the constitution at all costs?" "I support spaying and neutering, just like Trump did to you", Triumph quickly shot back, adding his trademark catchphrase, "I kid!"

Cruz did show the humility to pay tribute to O'Rourke for his campaign - as the boos rang out among his supporters - and what he had done to mobilise and energise young voters.
