Wayne Rooney to return for England farewell vs U.S. at Wembley

The 33-year-old made his last appearance for England in a 3-0 win over Scotland in November 2016, before announcing his worldwide retirement in August 2017.

"I miss him. The future, nobody knows, maybe we'll play one day together again".

He will also get the chance to add to his tally of 53 global goals, with those efforts having made him the only man to pass a half-century of strikes for the Three Lions.

The 33-year-old Rooney, who joined DC United from Everton earlier this year, retired from worldwide duty in August 2017 as his country's record goal-scorer (53) and having won more caps (119) than any other England outfield player.

Legendary English goalkeeper Peter Shilton has slammed England for their shock recall of Wayne Rooney for a charity friendly against the United States.

Rooney, who retired from worldwide football in 2017, will be part of the England squad that faces the United States at Wembley on 15 November.
