Trump's SC nominee Kavanaugh faces another sexual assault allegations

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh now faces allegations of sexual misconduct from a second woman, who claims he exposed himself to her at a Yale party in a new report from the New Yorker magazine.

"She added afterward, she remembered hearing a person shout from down a hallway, "'Brett Kavanaugh just put his penis in Debbie's face'".

The classmate independently recalled numerous same details Ramirez told The New Yorker about the incident. The woman, Deborah Ramirez, is calling on the FBI to investigate the incident.

The timeline regarding when Senate Republicans learned of this allegation is significant.

WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 04: Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing in the Hart Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill September 4, 2018 in Washington, DC.

Mr Grassley said that if she missed that deadline, he would scrap the hearing and his committee would vote on sending Mr Kavanaugh's nomination to the full Senate. "It was a story that was known, but it was a story that i was embarrassed about", she admitted.

The New Yorker article was co-written by Ronan Farrow, whose reportage around disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was key in opening the floodgates of the #MeToo movement, along with another reporter Jane Mayer.

He denounces the allegations as "smears, pure and simple", telling Chuck Grassley and Dianne Feinstein that "such grotesque and obvious character assassination--if allowed to succeed--will dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from service". White House aides and congressional allies worked all week to keep President Donald Trump from unloading on the woman who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.

At 1 p.m. on Monday, supporters of the women who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault walked out of their homes and workplaces.

One Democratic aide on the committee said senators have heard many rumors but did not have details about Ramirez's specific allegation before the story was published.

Kavanaugh has also agreed to testify at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing planned for 10 a.m. (1400 GMT) on Thursday.

"I look forward to a vote and for people to come out of the woodwork from 36 years ago and 30 years ago and never mention it, and all the sudden it happens", the president also said.

"This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats, created to tear down a good man", White House Spokesperson Kerri Kupec said. Kavanaugh will testify, as well, and is already under intense preparation for it.

"We thought it was important to get the entire law school community involved in support women and survivors", she said.

For Trump, getting the conservative Kavanaugh into the lifetime appointment would cement his mission to shift the court to the right for years to come.

"A classmate of Ramirez's, who declined to be identified because of the partisan battle over Kavanaugh's nomination, said that another student told him about the incident either on the night of the party or in the next day or two".

Kavanaugh plans to turn over to the committee personal calendars from the summer of 1982. Once again, those alleged to have been witnesses to the event deny it ever happened.
