Trump hunts 'resistance' against him in White House

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke on the issue during his visit to India. He criticized the media for what he said were its efforts to "undermine this administration".

Isn't it a shame that someone can write an article or book, totally make up stories and form a picture of a person that is literally the exact opposite of the fact, and get away with it without retribution or cost.

As of this writing, more than a dozen Trump Administration officials have denied writing the anonymous essay published by the New York Times.

Mr Trump seethed about the piece and presented it as one more jab from the ranks of disgruntled critics in denial about his presidential successes, even as Washington was consumed with speculation about who wrote it.

"Americans should know there are adults in the room". "I thought I would be more effective by retaining my public role than getting involved in either the treatment of those who were feeling scared or in the actual intervention with the president". In one tweet, he demanded that the newspaper name the source for legal action.

The Times' only clue was calling the author a "senior administration official".

"If the GUTLESS anonymous person does indeed exist, the Times must, for National Security purposes, turn him/her over to the government at once!" he tweeted. Trump wrote in a tweet.

The message called the Times "complicit in this deceitful act".

House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters that "if you're not interested in helping the president, you shouldn't work for the president as far as I'm concerned".

Some people online also made jokes about or theorized about whether Melania Trump herself could possibly be the anonymous writer, although there is no evidence of that.

"The relationship has nowhere to go but down, fast", the official said. Meadows is the chairman of a House subcommittee that oversees the president's executive office and a founder of conservative Freedom Caucus.

However, the writer says no one wants to cause a constitutional crisis.

The former NY businessman and reality TV star has had an unusually high level of staff turnover and has sometimes publicly criticized his top aides.

Following reports on excerpts of famed reporter Bob Woodward's new White House exposé, President Donald Trump is pointing his vexation at White House counselor Kellyanne Conway and former National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, Vanity Fair reported. The piece, titled, "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration", details the "quiet resistance within the administration of people choosing to put country first".

"A lot of us [were] wishing we'd been the writer, I suspect ..."

Trump also said The New York Times, news channel CNN and "all of these phony media outlets" will be out of business soon.

Dana Perino, the former White House press secretary under George W. Bush, called the mysterious author of the op-ed "extremely self-indulgent". "With the midterms approaching, [Robert] Mueller's report nearing completion, and the Democrats becoming ever more vocal with their calls for impeachment, she's concerned Donald's going to start to unravel seriously". So do the swipes and sneering at him that slip, nearly unconsciously at times, into news stories that according to the paper's tradition are supposed to contain facts, not opinion.
