Marvel Planning More Female-Led Superhero Movies

Per the norm, the MCU will be different, with Starforce composed of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy's Djimon Hounsou's Korath, Gemma Chan's sniper Minn-Erva, and Jude Law is revealed to be playing the leader, Mar-vell.

The comic book and movie powerhouse has released 10 pictures to EW in the United States, which includes glimpses of Larson as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's strongest superhero, Jude Law as her mentor Mar-Vell, Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Talos and a two-eyed, de-aged Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. That allows the film to introduce younger version of familiar Marvel faces - like Jackson's Nick Fury, who's still a two-eyed S.H.I.E.L.D. desk jockey - as well as let Carol carve out her own, unique space in the MCU.

"Captain Marvel" will lead the cover of the next issue of Entertainment Weekly, which will include an exclusive first look at the intergalactic hero.

Although the Marvel Studios head didn't mention any of these movies by name, we should mention that Catwoman and Elektra came out in 2004 and 2005, respectively.

Brie Larson, the star of Captain Marvel, has revealed why she chose to take on the part of the MCU's latest superhero.

Feige confirmed to EW Carol Danvers' power is unmatched in the MCU.

But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. "But what makes her special is just how human she is". He, of course, is the Stan Lee and Gene Colan creation whom Jim Starlin memorably killed off in 1982's story "The Death of Captain Marvel". And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn't always make the flawless decisions for herself.

Following Captain Marvel, which is set to hit theatres in March, Marvel has a Black Widow film starring Scarlett Johansson in the works with Cate Shortland having signed on to direct.

Captain Marvel is set up to play an important role in next spring's yet-to-be-title fourth Avengers film.
