'The Bachelor': Colton Underwood to Be Season 23 Star of ABC Series

ICYMI, Underwood first appeared on Becca Kufrin's season of The Bachelorette in spring 2018, where he poignantly confessed he was a virgin.

The next episode of "Bachelor in Paradise" airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

"I'm very excited", Underwood told Strahan.

ABC announced Tuesday on "Good Morning America" that Underwood, a former National Football League tight end, will star in the next season of the hit reality-television series.

Underwood said after the announcement was made Tuesday morning on ABC's "Good Morning America". And Tia and I are in a very good place.

Growing emotional, he explained in a confessional that "all I want to do is please people", but "I can't sit around on a beach anymore and look at her every day and know there's not a future". He also isn't the only virgin to compete on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.

And NO I will NOT be a contestant on Colton's season.

He added that what he's "looking forward to most" is getting engaged by the end of his season, "and just getting married shortly after that".

Underwood's season of The Bachelor premieres in January 2019. "That's what I'm hoping for".

Many fans of the show took to Twitter to discuss the new Bachelor.

Underwood, who is also known for once dating Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, will be the first self-proclaimed νirgiп to be the Bachelor.

When he arrived, he told Tia he wasn't fully over Becca since the pair didn't get any closure, though this was helped when she arrived in paradise to give advice to the budding couples and finally talk to Colton about sending him home in the final rounds of the show.

There was some support for Colton, but it was mostly coming from one person.
