Donald Trump Calls Donors Koch Brothers "Total Joke", "Overrated"

Donald Trump Calls Donors Koch Brothers

WASHINGTON -While the Koch brothers have always been closely aligned with the Republican Party's far-right flank, they oppose the Trump administration's policies on spending, trade and immigration.

Heitkamp is one of 10 Senate Democrats who face re-election in November in states Trump won in 2016.

The Koch network is only active in four Senate races, including Wisconsin, Tennessee, Florida and Missouri.

Trump claimed the Kochs are fans of his tax bill, even though Brian Hooks, a top official at the donor network, over the weekend called Trump's policies "the most fiscally irresponsible budget in the history of our country".

This comes after the Koch network has opposed Trump's trade policy, and won't be supporting some Trump-aligned candidates this fall.

The Kochs were equally concerned about Trump's "protectionist" trade policies, which have sparked a trade war and could trigger a U.S. recession, Koch said. We are raising the bar, raising expectations. The Kochs also pledged almost $400 million more in January to support Republicans in this year's midterms, CNBC reported.

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., who attended the Koch summit, said, "It's their money and their choices", adding, "They've got to make their decisions".

The open battle between the White House and the billionaire Koch brothers escalated further on Tuesday when former Donald Trump campaign advisor Sam Nunberg insulted the billionaire heirs.

Some Trump loyalists were furious at perceived contradictions in the Koch network's behavior and anxious that it could complicate the president's 2020 re-election.

Democrats "don't want to give Trump any victory", he said.

Charles Koch regrets some of the choices he and his political operations have made, and won't make the same mistake again.

"Their network is highly overrated", Trump charged.

Steve Lombardo, a spokesman for the brothers' Kansas-based company Koch Industries, told CNN, "We support policies that help people improve their lives and look forward to working with anyone to make that happen".

However, the Koch network has previously criticized Cramer's stances on issues that matter to the Koch brothers, including free trade, as "inconsistent". Later, Koch political associates railed against Trump's recent $12 billion in emergency aid to farmers as a "bailout of bad policy".
