Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Trailer Teases Spock's Return

I'm sure this new Star Trek is for someone, but it's just not for me.

It's a genre-fan smorgasbord at Comic-Con Friday.

After the teaser's premiere, it was announced that a new anthology series is in the works that will tie into Star Trek: Discovery. Additionally, Rainn Wilson will return as Harry Mudd in an episode that he will also direct, and Aldis Hodge (who played MC Ren in the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton) will star as the character "Craft" in another. Additional episodes include a deep dive into Saru's (Doug Jones) backstory as the first Kelpien to join Starfleet, and Tilly's (Mary Wiseman) journey aboard the USS Discovery and her friendship with an unlikely partner.

The four shorts will come out monthly and will share a brief 10-15 minute story that delves into established characters and themes from Star Trek: Discovery.

As the trailer goes on, Pike and his new crew identify and try to find the source of seven mysterious red bursts that have suddenly popped up across the universe. To top it off? "I can tell you that yes, you will be seeing Spock this season", said Kurtzman, during the Discovery Hall H panel earlier today. Anticipation for Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery is high, especially after some pretty interesting hints that were left. There's also a tease that Mr. Spock could be appearing later in the season as well.

As for Culber, he's returning, said Wilson Cruz. The change could be partly due to a behind-the-scene shakeup on show, since Alex Kurtzman has taken over as showrunner from Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg on the new season.
