Nigerian pop star Davido won Best International Act on Sunday at the BET Awards and urged greater collaborations between United States and African musicians.

Unfortunately, Kwesi Arthur lost to South African's SJAVA in the BET Awards night held Sunday, June 24, at Los Angeles in the United States of America in the Microsoft Centre.

The BET Awards, established by Black Entertainment Television to recognise the best in African American culture, maintains an global category for black music from outside the United States.

The awards are presented annually, and are broadcast live on BET.

"I would ask that the music be allowed to play, that singers are allowed to sing, and rappers are allowed to rap, and poets are allowed to rhyme", said Baker, who also was honored by host Jamie Foxx, Ledisi and Marsha Ambrosius. Watch performances from the show below.
