The coffin of Palestinian Fadi al-Batsh is carried inside a mosque for a prayer in Selayang, on the outskirt of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Gaza's ruling Hamas militant group has accused Israel of being behind Saturday's killing of Fadi al-Batsh, an important member of Hamas.

But Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman Sunday denied claims of the Jewish state's involvement, suggesting instead that it was a "settling of accounts" between factions of a terror group. "(We) have to seek assistance from local and worldwide agencies", he said.

Malaysian police on Tuesday received an autopsy report from the Health Ministry about the death of a Palestinian lecturer, who was assassinated in the capital Kuala Lumpur last week.

Authorities had originally released computer-generated photographs of the suspects, whom witnesses described as well-built and light-skinned, possibly Middle Eastern or European.

Police also released images of two motorcycles, a BMW and a Kawasaki, one of which was believed to have been ridden by the suspects.

Mossad is also believed to have been behind the assassination in 2010 of top Hamas commander Mahmud al-Mabhuh in a Dubai hotel.

"I have contacted the Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia Datuk Dr Anwar Al Agha and he said he has not yet received the approval of the Egyptian Government so far", she told Bernama.

Al Batsh was a lecturer at Universiti Kuala Lumpur, specialising in power engineering, according to the university.

Israel has a long history of being accused of targeting wanted Palestinian militants in daring overseas operations and has been linked to other assassinations as well, though it has rarely publicly acknowledged them.

Israel is widely believed to have killed numerous Palestinian resistance activists in the past, many of them overseas.

The boy's father, Jamil Fayoumi, told Xinhua that his son's treatment "was delayed whe he needed an urgent surgery for the wound, as the Israeli side refused to provide him a permission to leave Gaza for [the] West Bank or an Israeli hospital".

Police have said al-Batsh had lived in Malaysia for more than seven years and was a permanent resident of the country.
