France considering strikes on Assad's chemical facilities: Macron

Saudi Arabia's crown prince wrapped up his visit to France yesterday, geared toward shoring up cooperation while addressing the lurking strategic differences between the two countries on a series of crises across the Middle East.

The complaint also alleged that civilian targets have been deliberately attacked by Saudi aircraft carrying out strikes in Yemen.

"Our position is that those who are responsible for the use of chemical weapons must be held accountable and be brought to justice", Adel al-Jubeir told reporters in Paris during a visit by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Macron also announced that France would co-organize with Saudi Arabia a conference on humanitarian aid for Yemen, where a civil war has been fought since 2015.

"The discussions were friendly, which allowed the two men to establish a personal relationship", Macron's office said.

"If there is one chance that his project succeeds, then it's the responsibility of France to accompany him", Macron said on Tuesday.

"Since the start of the conflict in Yemen, France has adopted a very specific process whereby all sales of military equipment are analysed on a case-by-case basis and on the basis of reinforced criteria that reflect respect for worldwide humanitarian law and the risk of harm to civilian populations", Macron said. "It is obvious that we will not tolerate any ballistic activity that threatens Saudi Arabia".

Amnesty International also took out a full-page advertisement in the Liberation newspaper on Monday, featuring the feet of an executed prisoner, urging Macron to talk about human rights with Prince Mohammed.

Prince Saud al-Faisal, who served as Saudi Arabia's foreign minister for 40 years until his death, was a regular visitor to the French capital, where he stayed in the lap of luxury. In total, $9 billion will be invested, a joint statement from the company said.
