AAP slams Modi government on CBSE paper leak

Students in Delhi on Thursday carried a massive protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi after the CBSE announced re-examination for Class 12 Economics and Class 10 Mathematics papers due to paper leaks.

"With a view to uphold the sanctity of Board Examinations and in the interest of fairness to the students, the Board has chose to re-conduct the examination", said a CBSE statement.

He said CBSE is a respected and reliable organisation and throughout the year, it conducts many examinations, including 1.40 crore students.

In light of which it chose to re-conduct the maths and economics papers to "uphold the sanctity of the board and in the interest of fairness to the students". The board cleared that the new dates will be decided after considering the logistics and the dates of the other professional examinations.

He said he was "saddened" by reports that the papers had leaked and asserted that he was confident that the police would investigate and nab the culprits. According to reports, the leaked question paper matched the original paper today and hence, the board has chose to re-conduct the examination.

"First SSC, now CBSE, they also leaked the dates of polls before the Election Commission's official announcement. It has been learnt that some 10 students, all from various convent schools, received the leaked question papers initially", sources said.

According to top sources in the Delhi Police, investigation is now focusing on the role of CBSE officials, invigilators and school staff, coaching centres and printers.

Earlier, in a series of tweets, Rahul Gandhi said, "The exam leaks destroy the hopes and futures of millions of students".

The economics paper has been alleged to be leaked hours before the commencement of the examination, but the CBSE asked the parents and the students not to panic. It says the papers had been leaked the evening before the two examinations.

Meanwhile, a special investigation team of Delhi Police has been formed to look into the matter.

A police officer opined that the leak of the examination papers appear to have happened in the evening before the two examinations. All the seals have been found intact at all exam centres.
