WhatsApp co-founder tweets 'It is time. Delete Facebook'

WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton has tweeted saying it is time to Delete Facebook. He recently tweeted out on the hashtag "It's time #deletefacebook".

Facebook acquired WhatsApp for in 2014 for $19 billion. The tweet comes on the heels of an undercover investigation broadcast on the U.K.'s Channel 4 News Senior of Cambridge Analytica - the United Kingdom data company at the heart of a major worldwide scandal into the mining of data from 50 million Facebook users in order to influence elections - in which execs were caught discussing its secretive and pivotal involvement in Donald Trump's election win.

Definitely a weird tweet from Acton-let's see what he has to say next about his tweet, and whether it was actually him sending the message or a "hacker".

One of the co-founders of messaging service WhatsApp now wants everyone to delete their Facebook account.

While there is a huge debate going over this, there were many users who also pitched an idea to ditch all social media platforms owned by Facebook.

It was unclear whether Acton's feelings about Facebook extend to his own App.

Cambridge Analytica got that data from the creator of a quiz taken by 270,000 Facebook users. Apparently, Facebook knew all about this data leak in 2015 but the public wasn't made aware of this news until this weekend.

Sandy told Guadian that Facebook did not use its enforcement mechanisms or audit external developers to ensure data was not being misused.

While Cambridge Analytica has insisted it played by the rules and Facebook has fought back that there was ever a "hack" or a "breach", some users are turned off that all of the data was collected by the book.
