Cricket Australia want action over SBW masks

Two senior Cricket South Africa officials face disciplinary action after posing with spectators wearing masks showing the face of All Black rugby player Sonny Bill Williams during the second Test against Australia on Friday.

Security had reportedly stopped fans with masks outside the venue before CSA intervened and let them in.

The masks are believed to be linked to the personal sledges exchanged behind closed doors between Warner and De Kock where the Aussie vice-captain's wife Candice was allegedly mentioned in a derogatory manner.

Not only should those masks have been banned from the stadium, what made matters worst was the fact that two CSA officials actually went ahead and clicked photographs with the notorious fans.

The tensions between South Africa and Australia during their four-Test series is set to continue after another embarrassing incident.

The option is open for CA to call on the ICC to lay a charge, as its code of conduct covers the use of "language or gesture (s) that is seriously obscene, seriously offensive or of a seriously insulting nature" to players during an global match.

Controversies around Australian cricketer David Warner refuse to die down.

Cricket writer and commentator Gideon Haigh has implored CA to take such action.

CSA tried to "distance itself" from the behaviour of Eksteen and Kazi when it apologised to CA.

There have been calls on social media for spectators to wear the masks following a row between Warner and South Africa's Quinton de Kock during the first Test, which Warner claimed was sparked when De Kock insulted his wife.

CSA has taken immediate precautionary steps against the CSA officials involved in this incident and will follow the organisation's normal internal processes in this regard.

There have been repercussions for Nathan Lyon and Kagiso Rabada, a foul-mouthed dispute between De Kock and and Warner, ball tampering allegations, and now this.
