Sally Field tries to set her son up with Olympian Adam Rippon

Sally Field has no qualms about being her son's personal matchmaker - and has her sights set on this year's most popular Olympic figure skater, Adam Rippon! Had he become a correspondent, Rippon would have to relinquish his Olympian standing, move out of the Olympic Village, give up his credentials and not walk with Team USA during the event's closing ceremony. Doing this would require me to leave Team USA and move out of the Olympic Village. "I think one thing that I want people to come away with from this competition is that I'm not a gay icon or America's gay sweetheart - I'm just America's sweetheart, and I'm just an icon".

"I worked so hard to be on this Olympic team, and my teammates and my friends were there for me during my events", Rippon explained further on NBC Sports Network's Olympic Ice. "I think I've shown the world that I'm a fierce competitor, but I think I've shown them that I'm also a fierce human being". He helped the Americans win a bronze medal in the team event, then put on a pair of clean skates in the individual competition. Team USA still has three ice dance teams and three women left to compete, and Rippon didn't want to miss out on any of the remaining Olympic action.

"You mean Mike Pence, the same Mike Pence that funded gay conversion therapy?"

He also pledged that he would decline any invitations to the White House post-Olympics to spend time with President Donald Trump or Pence, respectively.

Always outspoken, Rippon made news in mid-January when he criticized Vice President Pence in a story in USA TODAY.

"I hate being earnest but an openly, 'non-passing, ' sassy, lovely gay 20-something daring America not to love him and becoming the sweetheart of the Olympic Games is very moving to me", he wrote.

Rippon finished in 10th place at the Men's Single Free Program on Saturday.

"I will never forget my roots, I'm absolutely Pennsylvania's sweetheart first and foremost", says Rippon.

Rippon's numerous fan, unsurprisingly, couldn't be happier about the news - or just generally more in love with the self-described icon.
